(Fremont County, WY) – Fremont County Clerk Julie Freese announced today, March 31st that two redistricting public meetings have been planned in Lander and Crowheart.
The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 5th at 5:30 pm in the County Commissioners’ Chambers in Lander at the Courthouse. The second meeting will be held on Thursday, April 7th at 5:30 pm at the Crowheart Fire Hall.
Information on the current redistricting proposals from Freese is shared below.
Current Commissioners’ lines (based on the new census) are very evenly divided and could stand as they are for the next 10 years. However, there are a few changes that were made to the Legislative House lines that are proposed as “cleanup of lines” for Commissioner District approval.
These are the only proposals. Your concerns and ideas are important. Please look at the map, contact the County Clerk at 307-332-1122, or attend one of these meetings to learn more or make comments. The Commissioner Districts will be set by the County Commission no later than April 19, 2022.
Proposed changes are as follows:
1) Move the current Commissioner lines (between Commissioner Districts #1 and #2) in the Crowheart area from the river to Highway 26. Every voter situated North of Hwy 26 would be in Commissioner District #2 and every voter situated South of Hwy 26 would be in Commissioner District #1.
2) Move the current Commissioner lines (between Commissioner Districts #4 and #5) on Lyons Valley Road. Every voter situated to the East of Lyons Valley would be in Commissioner District #5 and every voter situated West of Lyons Valley would be in Commissioner District #4. This is ONLY in the Milford precinct.
