Turf going down at LVHS in Lander; field won’t be ready for 0 week scrimmage

The wet May Fremont County experienced this year is the reason the turf project at Bill Bush Stadium at Lander Valley High School won’t be completed on time.

The original projected completion date was August 15th, but FCSD #1 Activities Director Serol Stauffenberg says work won’t be finished by then. This means an August 30th scrimmage against Pinedale, planned to take place on the new field has been moved to Pinedale.

“They’ve been working some long days the last 2 – 3 weeks to make up the time, but we decided to make the move now.” Stauffenberg shared.

The hope is that the field will be fully ready for play by September 6th, the day of Lander’s first regular-season game against Green River. The first two weeks of the Tigers’ schedule are at home this year, week two against Powell.

Stauffenberg says the work is going quickly now and the contractors have a target of August 30th for completion, well ahead of that first home game.
