Riverton’s annual downtown Halloween celebration will be taking place on Halloween evening this year according to Riverton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jim Davis.
Davis made the announcement Tuesday at the Riverton City Council meeting.
Last October, the event was held on the Saturday before October. “We got some feedback last year,” said Davis. “(Residents) thought that there was two Halloween’s by doing that.”
Davis said he’s spoken with City of Riverton staff and Riverton Police Department staff and says the community should look forward to it. “We hope to have another successful event this year. It’s been a rousing success, hopefully, the weather holds.”
The timeline for the event wasn’t immediately clear, however in the past, the trick-or-treating began about 4:00 p.m. Typically the event is in the late afternoon/early evening.
Davis told County 10 that in 2016 the chamber dispersed 400 pounds of candy, and thought that number was increased in 2017.
