Fremont County tribal leaders and federal officials have reached an agreement over issues discovered in reporting $6.2 million worth of misspent transportation funds.
According to the Casper Star-Tribune, the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes agreed Tuesday at the Wind River Inter-Tribal Council meeting on several fixes recommended by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
In 2018, the Interior Department’s Inspector General found that, “poor insight from the Bureau of Indian Affairs” was responsible for the millions in misspent funds.
The agreement includes a more than $7,400 payment to the federal government and officials are negotiating administrative fees.
