Trapping reform recommendations go before WGFD Commission on November 17th

Earlier this year, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department formed an internal working group that focused on gathering input from stakeholders around the state related to potential trapping statute and regulation changes.

The group gathered information from stakeholders across Wyoming through phone calls and a series of meetings. Information from this process along with recommendations is being presented at the November 17th WGFD Commission meeting.

While a handful of the recommendations could be implemented immediately with the support of the Commission and Department, a few would require regulatory and legislative changes.

The most common theme throughout the process has been an educational aspect for both trappers and recreators, among other things. This being one of the items that could be implemented immediately.

The trapping information being presented to the Commission can be found here. This information includes a letter breakdown and a presentation.

The 2-day Commission meeting is public and will be held in Buffalo at the Bomber Mountain Civic Center on November 17th and 18th. It is also available to watch via Zoom. Click here for the agenda.
