TRAINING DRILL COMPLETED: FCSD students and local agencies take part in training exercise

This morning, Friday, November 16th between 9:30am and 12:00pm a training exercise at Hudson Town Hall took place to prepare local agencies for a mass casualty incident. A mass casualty incident is an event where the number of victims and/or severity of injuries may potentially exhaust available emergency medical resources and challenge the community’s ability to respond in a normal way.

So what’s the best way to prepare for the worst? Stage it. The drill included:

9:30am – At the incident site, the training exercise simulated a bus tip-over due to icy conditions.

9:30-10:45am – Participating students received a variety of simulated injuries and were then transported to SageWest Health Care facilities by ground EMS and school bus.

10:45am-12:00pm – Upon arrival at SageWest, the students underwent mock treatment for their injuries.

12:00pm – Training exercise complete and students go back to school with a bus load of fun stories to share with friends and family!

Exercises of this nature take place approximately 2 times per year. The following community partners include,  (but are not limited to) Fremont County Emergency Management, Fremont County Public Health, SageWest Health Care, Guardian EMS, Guardian Flight, Classic Air, FCSD#1 and 25, Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Riverton and Lander Police Departments, Hudson Fire Department.
