Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine coming up Friday in Riverton
It will be a Night To Shine in Riverton Friday at the First Baptist Church. The Tim Tebow Foundation sponsors this worldwide event annually on February 9th, the Friday before Valentines Day in all 50 states and in 15 countries. In the United States, over 550 churches participate. This year is the 4th Annual.
So, what is a Night to Shine? It’s a special evening for individuals 14 years-of-age and older with special needs to know that they truly are special and loved. It’s a Prom, said local coordinator Carol Strohecker.
“Our guests were required to register in advance to receive a formal invitation,” she said. “I sent out notices to all the case managers in Fremont County. At this point, all the invitations have been sent out.”
The guests for this Night to Shine will be well taken care of, Strohecker said. “As each guest arrives, they’ll be assigned a buddy to make sure they have fun and have any needs handled. They’ll walk down a red carpet, have their photo taken, there will be hair and makeup stations, and a shoe shine station for touch-ups,” she said. “Additionally, there will be a Karaoke room and limousine rides and a video from Tim Tebow will be played.” She also said there will be hors d’oeuvres. Each guest will also have a chance to be the King and/or Queen of the Prom, complete with crowns and tiaras.
The event, obviously, is faith-based, “but it will be non-denominational in scope, just for our guests to have fun,” Strohecker said, “and to know that they are loved in the eyes of God.”
