Tigers stop skid against Riverton; Wranglers go into overtime; Cougars get win in Casper; Friday scores

The Lander Valley Tigers under new head coach John Scott grabbed the lead before half-time and didn’t look back in winning for the first time in five tries against cross-county rival Riverton. On the Wolverines home field, LVHS took a 35-27 victory as a late Riverton rally fell short.

In Shoshoni, a cold wind was a contributing factor in seven fumbles during the game at Bailey Field. None were more costly than when Rocky Mountain coughed up the ball near the Shoshoni goal line in overtime. The Wranglers pounced on the ball, preserving a 14-8 win and earning their second victory of the season.

Wind River picked up a conference win Friday with a 2-0 forfeit from Saratoga, but wanting to play a game, an exhibition contest was scheduled with the Natrona County Junior Varsity in  Casper. The Cougars won that contest 21 – 15.
