    Theresa H. Grovum, 94, died peacefully on October 4, 2019, at Morning Star Care Center. She was born October 1, 1925 at Fort Washakie to Eva O’Neal Kniffin and Lawrence Hereford.

    Theresa grew up at Fort Washakie and attended school in the area. She later attended Haskell Indian School in Lawrence, Kansas. Theresa worked for Indian Health Service as a nursing aide and she also worked for American Laundry in Lander for a number of years. She married Leroy Prather and had two children with him, Troy Scott Prather and Mineva Lee Prather. Theresa moved to Casper, Wyoming, where she met Al Grovum who she later married. She lived in Casper for many years before returning home.

    She is survived by her sisters, Wanda Chase of Sturgis, SD, Patricia Garvin of Fort Washakie, and Wandrae Kniffin also from Fort Washakie; grandchildren ToiNae Gibson (Sam) of Hillsboro, OR, Tierney Karger (Marche) of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Charles Dice Gibson and William Lorin Gibson; nieces, Shelley Garvin and Teri Jo McDougle (Scott); nephews, Patrick (Spike) Garvin (Carina), Michial Garvin (Wanda), Ainor (Corky) Griswold (Edith) and Douglas Griswold (Francine); her beloved great-niece Patryce Stephenson (Shannon) and her children Yuri and Keeley Garvin and Evan and Keegan Stephenson and her great-great niece Sailah June Garvin and numerous other great-nieces and great-nephews.

    Theresa was preceded in death by her mother, Eva O’Neal Kniffin; her father Lawrence Hereford; her brothers, Glen (Oakie) Hereford and Ainor Hereford; Sisters, Hazel Hereford and June Stagner; son, Troy Scott Prather; daughter Mineva Lee Brown; grandson, Noel Travis Prather; niece, Vicky Nicholls; nephew, Gregory (Moe) Griswold and Dean Stagner.

    A Rosary will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Ethete, WY, on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.

    Funeral services will be held at Rocky Mountain Hall in Fort Washakie, WY, on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., a feast will follow the funeral services.
    Cremation will take place after services.
