The Lander Elks Lodge did it again; Christmas Food Baskets served nearly 1,000 local residents

(Lander, Wyo.) – The local Christmas Food Basket program in Lander reached another milestone this past week when over 200 food baskets, 320 turkeys and over 1,000 Christmas gifts for those 18 and under were delivered in and around Lander. Additionally, another 100 food baskets were made for folks to pick up.

The Lander Elks Lodge #2317 (Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks) joined with community members and organizations to make the food basket and gift distribution possible. In a news release, the Elks Lodge said it was a coordinated community effort with the food baskets prepared and delivered from Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The baskets contained canned goods, cereal, pancake mixes, pasta and assorted food stables plus, of course, a turkey. Pitching in to help were numerous local businesses, schools, government organizations and individuals.

Assisting the elks with preparing the baskets and gifts were various Lander youth and civic groups. “They worked hand-in-hand with the Lander Lodge to ensure every family in need received help this year for a happy holiday season and a Merry Christmas.
