    The Google Maps team will be in Riverton this month; City organizing welcoming festivities

    It’s your chance to be “Google Street-View famous” on Wednesday, June 26th.

    The Google Maps team will be in Riverton rolling through community streets and recording street-view photos for the world to see.

    The City of Riverton and Riverton Chamber of Commerce are hosting a community meeting to organize some fun festivities that will help show off the community. That meeting is set for Wednesday, June 12th at 6:30 p.m. inside Riverton City Hall.

    Ideas included in a press release are, parades that represent Riverton, police on horses, a cattle drive, hot air balloons inflating, marching bands, classic cars, cowboys, skateboarders, mountain men, and more to take to the streets in creative ways.

    Main Street and Federal Boulevard businesses are also encouraged to represent themselves with exterior displays.

    Google will start filming and photographing at about 9:00 a.m. on Riverton’s Main Street on the 26th. Their itinerary includes working their way up Main Street, turning into Central Wyoming College, and then near the Riverton Regional Airport. Google will also shoot Federal Boulevard from the Wind River Casino area to Sunset Boulevard. A Shriners Parade is also scheduled for June 26th beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Main Street.
