Taylor Haynes Enters Race for Governor; Visits with Voters in Riverton Today
Taylor Haynes, who ran in 2014, will seek the Republican nomination for governor. Haynes, a Cheyenne rancher, businessman and retired doctor, wants to return Wyoming to “the Last Best Place.”
Haynes will be speaking with voters at the Roasted Bean in Riverton at 2:30 p.m. today.
“I am the first person running for office to promote Wyoming’s sovereignty and the absolute need to establish a proper and Constitutional relationship with the Federal Government. This vision, that I have shared with Wyoming voters, is for a prosperous and free Wyoming,” explained Haynes.
Faced with the potential of inheriting a struggling Wyoming economy, Haynes says there are no magic bullets.
“It takes time and effort to accomplish this task. Most of all it takes a commitment to our greatest natural resource: our children. A fresh, and comprehensive, look is needed for our entire educational system, K-16, so that we can endow our children with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed,” he said.
He joins fellow Republicans, Cheyenne attorney Harriet Hageman, Rock Springs veterinarian Rex Rammell and Sheridan businessman Bill Dahlin who also declared their candidacy. So far the only declared Democratic candidate is Cheyenne attorney Mary Throne, a former state legislator.
