You may recall the first ever “Winter Rendezvous Games” back in February, it is time again for some community bonding and good old fashioned competition. The first ever “Summer Rendezvous Games” are kicking off at Riverton City Park with an opening ceremony starting at 7:30 pm on Friday, August 16th. Teams will be introduced at the opening ceremony and there is plan to have about 200 sparklers and a small fireworks display pending Riverton City Council approval at their meeting tonight.
Riverton City Councilwoman Rebecca Shatza notes the summer games will be similar to the winter games. They are adding a kid’s event at noon though. Details for that event can be found here.

There are 14 confirmed teams competing this weekend. The games are from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday. Rebecca notes there will be food vendors there all day as well.
- Looks for Likes – Costumes (Friday)
- Rendezvous Recollections
- Vehicle Push/Pull
- Chalk Art Contest
- Ready for Summer Relay
- Tug of War
- Eating Contest
There will also be a “Dunk a Cop!!” benefit on Saturday at 11 am. This was also organized by the Rendezvous Games Committee. Proceeds will help fund online classes for the night shift officers. Rebecca noted, they currently have to go in during the day shift and “it’s tough on the night crew to do that.”
Saturday evening from 6 pm to 9 pm will be the awards ceremony, dancing and BBQ cook-off. They also partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to bring Alive at Five during this time.
Head on out to City Park in Riverton this weekend for some fun and community bonding. Rebecca shares her favorite thing about the games is “seeing the community come together. This is why we did this!”
