Strong winds expected this week; Snow to follow in western and central Wyoming
A strong cold front is expected to move across western and central Wyoming on Thursday night. Winds are expected to strengthen on Wednesday night and into Thursday, ahead of the front. High winds are expected to develop in the Cody foothills and the southern wind corridor between Rock Springs and Casper on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Riverton.
Moderate to heavy snow is expected to spread into the western mountains Wednesday night and into Thursday with snow levels expected to lower to valley floors Thursday evening.
If planning to travel this weekend, note that light to moderate snow may spread across the I-80 corridor on Thursday night and into Friday. The Weather Service is calling for slick conditions with limited visibility in snow, strong winds, and blowing snow expected to cover “a significant portion of the route by Friday morning.”
