St. Stephens boys basketball punches ticket to state tournament

In a Fremont County showdown Saturday morning from Lander Valley High School the St. Stephens boys knocked off Dubois 87-60.

The Eagles advance to next week’s state tournament in Casper.

St. Stephens will play Farson-Eden at 1:00 p.m. Saturday from the LVHS auxiliary gym for a chance at 3rd place in the 1A West Regional Tournament.

If the Eagles beat Farson and take the 3 seed into state, they’ll open state basketball play Thursday at 12:00 p.m. If they lose and are the 4th seed, they play at 9:00 p.m. Thursday.

St. Stephens will join both the Wyoming Indian High School boys and girls in representing Fremont County at state. Both Wyoming Indian teams play Rocky Mountain for a 2A West Regional championship in Riverton this afternoon. The girls tip at 2:30 p.m. with the boys game to follow. County 10 will update as those games go final.

Earlier Saturday at regionals, both the Wind River girls and boys lost to Kemmerer, eliminating them from a chance to go to state basketball. Dubois was eliminated after falling to St. Stephens.
