St. John’s Health welcomes Dr. Brendan Fitzsimmons

Dr. Brendan Fitzsimmons is board certified in Family Medicine as well as Integrative and Holistic Medicine. Born and raised in Chicago, he credits his large, Irish Catholic family for inspiring a passion for service from an early age. Before beginning a career in medicine,  Dr. Fitzsimmons served in the U.S. Navy from 1978–1984 as a fire control technician in the 2nd Atlantic Fleet.

Dr. Fitzsimmons received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wyoming. He went on to receive his medical degree from the Creighton University School of Medicine, after which he practiced family medicine in a series of roles in North Dakota and Wyoming, holding positions at South Big Horn County Hospital in Basin, WY, and North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell, WY, among others. Most recently, he served the Sublette County Rural Health Care District from 2016–2021, and today he holds the position of County Health Officer of Sublette County.

In addition to his work in the United States, Dr. Fitzsimmons has dedicated himself to working with medical missions in the Dominican Republic. When he’s not caring for patients and families in Fremont, Sublette, Teton, and Big Horn Counties, he enjoys long-distance running and swimming, playing the guitar, avidly reading non-fiction, and spending time with his wife—a 5th generation Wyoming resident—and their three grown children.
