SageWest is piloting a new volunteer program at the Riverton campus, called The Chaplaincy Program, it provides non-denominational spiritual support to patients and their families. In collaboration with the SageWest Patient Advocate and Case Management staff, the Chaplain also works with local churches to connect patients and their families with their spiritual advisor(s) while hospitalized. The hope is to expand this service to SageWest Lander campus in the New Year.
In Riverton, Pastor Bonita Knox is the first to volunteer for the Chaplaincy Program. Pastor Knox has just begun but she already has a feel for it. “I see serving as Chaplain vital for families as they make decisions and especially as they need someone to listen and hear their concerns.”
Pastor Knox enjoys connecting to people throughout the community. She stated, “Our circles of connection are like ripples on the water.” Volunteering at SageWest allows her to connect in a very meaningful way. She is there to listen and help guide the patients and their families on what is best for their health and wholeness physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Pastor Knox is here to help all of us to see we are human, important, and loved! She is sure to have the resources you need and the comfort you seek. This is just one more way SageWest is Making Communities Healthier.
