Snow-moisture levels rise above median in Wind River Basin

The snow-water equivalent in the Wind River Basin is now above the median level.

This week’s report from the Natural Resources Conservation Service showed the local SWE at 101 percent of median on Tuesday, up from 92 percent of median last week and 86 percent of median the week before.

The forecast calls for even more moisture, NRCS hydrologist Jim Fahey said, predicting “several rounds of wet weather” over the next seven days.

Temperatures will remain slightly below normal through early next week, too, Fahey said, trending to near normal by the middle of next week, and “there will be limited snowmelt at elevations above 8,000 feet during the next seven days.”
