#Smiles: Local team places at All West Native American Basketball Classic

A series to share #smiles across our community through the achievements of our local youth, brought to you by Olsen Orthodontics.

(Fremont County, WY) – The 35th Annual AMERIND All West Native American Basketball Classic held last weekend July 16th – July 18th, at the Gold Crown Fieldhouse in Lakewood, CO.

Local team Wind River Tribez finished in 3rd place out of 28 teams.

The team was comprised of mostly Fremont County athletes, including Vidale “Tuff” C’Bearing III, Derrik Nipwater, and Austin Hill from Wyoming Indian High School, Donte’ Teichert from Fort Washakie High School, Jordan Barraza Jr from Lander Valley High School, and Xavier Albright from Natrona County High School.

They were coached by Buell Robinson, Cody Teichert, and Ryan Tiger.

Event organizers stated that, “This tournament was a great opportunity for our student athletes to come together on one team and represent our great tribes and communities. This past year has been a real struggle for everyone, especially the youth, with the pandemic slowing things down.”

“We would like to give a big thank you to all of our sponsors: Eastern Shoshone Housing Authority, Northern Arapaho Housing Authority, Wind River Trading Company, Native FX, Central Bank & Trust, Silver Spur Lanes and parents. Keep up the good work and keep grinding.”

Way to go Wind River Tribez!
