Each of the 3 Fremont County representative soccer teams that qualified for state soccer had highlight wins this weekend.
The Riverton Lady Wolverines took home 3rd place hardware Saturday after going 2-1 overall through the week. They picked up a 2-0 win against Rawlins Thursday, fell to Buffalo in the semi-finals 3-0, but bounced back to beat Worland 2-1 in Saturday’s 3rd place game.
The Wolverine boys picked up a double-overtime win over Torrington 4-3 Thursday, were edged by Powell 1-0 Friday, and dropped heartbreaking 2-2 game to Buffalo after a tie-breaking shootout in the 3rd place game.
The Lander girls will take home the consolation championship plaque after falling to Buffalo 2-0 in the first round, then bouncing back to beat Rawlins 1-0 Friday and knocking off Douglas 1-0 in the consolation championship Saturday.
