SI Riverton partners with Girl Scouts to help first time moms

(Riverton, WY) – Soroptimist International of Riverton again partnered with a group of Riverton Girl Scouts recently to sew nursing pillows for the Fremont County Public Health Nurse’s Best Beginnings program.

Four members of SI Riverton and nine Girl Scouts gave up a Saturday and carried sewing machines, fabric, stuffing and other necessities to the Riverton Library where they rapidly sorted themselves into small groups to assemble the pillows. Pizza was served.

In all, 22 pillows were completed with nine more needing only the hand sewing to finish. 31 pillows were delivered to the Public Health Nurse last week.

Girl Scout Leader, Susan Bronson, is also a member of Soroptimist International of Riverton and anticipates continued partnerships as the aims of the two organizations mesh. Girl Scouts is a youth organization for girls in the United States and American girls living abroad.

Being a Girl Scout means learning new things about the world, and having fun while doing it. It means stepping out of your comfort zone and doing things for people other than yourself and feeling good about it.
