Shoshoni resident named Grand Champion at State Fair TIP Challenge

(Shoshoni, WY) – At his first-ever TIP Challenge, Brian Welch and his gentled burro Champ were named Grand Champions in the Adult Burro Division at the Wyoming State Fair last weekend.

The two placed 2nd in Showmanship, 1st in Handling and Conditioning, 1st in the Trail Course, and 1st in Freestyle to earn them the title along with a belt buckle and burro pack saddle.

Brian and his wife Dani own Welch’s Triple Cross Ranch near Shoshoni and are fulfilling their passion for helping mustangs and burros get adopted.

County 10 shared last spring that they both had plans to enter the 2021 TIP Challenge, however, Dani’s mustang Whisper was not ready for the challenge in time. Their approach to training is all at the animal’s pace and they do not rush anything. This was the case for a few other trainers who had planned to enter the challenge as well.

Whisper has been adopted and they shared she is doing well at her new home. Brian also fulfilled his goal of finding Champ a forever home.

Brian would like to enter the challenge again next year and Dani is not sure at this time.

He noted it was really fun and that he learned a lot from the experience.
