Shoshoni Health & Wellness Center opens January 18th

(Shoshoni, WY) – The doors to the new Shoshoni Health & Wellness Center opened up to the community for the first time on January 11th for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and meet-and-greet open house.

Today’s event marks the beginning of local medical care for Shoshoni residents and the surrounding communities – a service that has not been there in several decades.

Attendees at today’s event included providers and staff of Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital as well as CEO Margie Molitor, Gottsche Rehabilitation Center staff and CEO Cheryl Shero, local government officials, and many community members.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Shoshoni Mayor Joel Highsmith praised everyone who was instrumental in making this center happen. Including councilmembers Kathy Blair, Beau Weaver, Jake Stetler, and Bob Zent. Chief of Police and Town Clerk Chris Konija worked long hours on the CARES Act application to secure funding to make this happen.

“It was a lot of teamwork or none of this would have been done,” Highsmith shared. It also would not have been possible without Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital and Gottsche being on board to staff the center.

Highsmith also praised Brad Brink of Brink Construction for completing the center by the end of the year deadline.

“It fits right in, we want to be the hub of healthcare in the southern basin and we were already seeing patients from Shoshoni,” Molitor shared about having a clinic in Shoshoni. “This is something people had talked about for a long time. It’s just hard to set up a clinic without a building. When the mayor called me around the first of June, I said ‘if you build a clinic, we will run it.'”

Currently, appointments for primary care can be made by calling Hot Springs Health at (307) 864-3121 and for rehabilitation services by calling Gottsche at 1-800-743-0736. The clinic officially opens on Monday, January 18th.
