Fremont County Sheriff Ryan Lee shared his department’s monthly update at the Fremont County Commissioners’ meeting on March 10th.
Bookings and inmate population decreased in February compared to January, according to Sheriff Lee’s report. Total bookings: 154 (down 30 from last month). Agency booking breakdown: RPD – 56, FCSO – 55, LPD – 34, WHP – 2, USM – 3, SPD – 1. The current inmate population is 195.
FCSO is currently short-staffed by two Deputies compared to four last month. There are two individuals in the background check phase.
The beds for the Detention Center retrofit are currently being built and the next step is installation.
Search and Rescue operations have doubled compared to this time last year. So far in 2020, there have been two in January and two in February. Three of the four have been to assist folks stranded due to weather conditions. One in the Crooks Gap Road area and two in the South Pass City area. The fourth was a Riverton Police Department agency assist to find an individual who had walked off. “They have all been fairly minor,” Undersheriff Mike Hutchison said.
