Sand Creek Fire remains 30% contained through Red Flag Warning

(Lander, WY) – The Sand Creek Fire, located west of Lander in the Wind River Range, remains at 907 acres and 30% containment, according to the latest update from the Incident Management Team.

Ground and aerial crews were able to maintain the fire containment through the Red Flag Warning issued for Fremont County, which was scheduled to conclude by 8:00 PM this evening, but could continue going into the weekend.

Aerial resources were able to continue support of the fire throughout the windy conditions and conduct bucket drops on areas of increased activity, and crews were able to successfully continue direct work on the fire line and areas of heat increased by warm windy weather.

Planning towards the future, the current Type 3 incident management team may transition to a Type 4 team on Sunday as the current actions continue to trend successful.
