SageWest is working closely with WDH to ensure safety of those within facility

SageWest Health Care has released the following public statement:

SageWest Health Care is committed to protecting the health and safety of everyone who walks through our doors. We can confirm that we have identified and are treating a patient with a presumptive positive case of the novel coronavirus (COVID 19). The patient is isolated at our Lander campus.

We are continuing to work closely with the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) and following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure the safety of our patients, the clinical team that cared for this individual and all those within our facility.

Our hospital is prepared with the appropriate plans to detect, protect and respond. We have been preparing for the potential of COVID-19 in our community for several weeks, building upon the robust emergency operations plan we have in place year-round.

Additionally, out of an abundance of caution, we are implementing strict visitor restrictions, moving to a zero-visitor protocol, and will be limiting our entry points at both our Lander and Riverton campuses. Exceptions to this visitor protocol may include pediatric patients, OB patients and those receiving end-of-life care. Everyone entering the hospital should use the main entrance during normal business hours and the emergency department entrance for after hours access. Per CDC guidelines, all individuals entering our campus will be screened for respiratory symptoms and travel history.

We want to reassure our communities that it is safe to come to the hospital should you or your family need care.

We are very proud of the incredible team at SageWest for responding and executing on the preparedness plans we have practiced. Their commitment to our patients and community is inspiring.
