It is with great pride and appreciation that we recognize our SageWest Employee of the Month for September, Kathy Kroeger, Imaging Technologist. Below is a letter from a family member of a patient, that says it all.
I had brought my dad into the emergency room and it was very busy that night. He was very scared, nervous and concerned. The x-ray woman came in and she had a bright smile on her face, her name was Kathy. She looked around at us and smiled. She walked right up to my dad and started talking to him like they were old friends who hadn’t seen each other in a while. She smiled at him and explained that she was there to get an x-ray. She held his hand and talked some more to him until I could see he was starting to relax. They joked with each other and then she went about getting her equipment ready.
After Kathy was done, she once again grabbed his hand and assured him that he was going to be ok and that they would take great care of him. She smiled so brightly at him that he seemed to be relaxing. She then turned to us and offered to see if she could get anything for us. I asked her for a couple of questions and Kathy then smiled at me and told me she would ask the nurse and be back to talk with us. She left the room and spoke with the nurse and was able to answer all my questions. She brought us a cup of coffee and told us that she would be back to check on us later.
Kathy never stopped smiling and had the most calming voice. She made everyone who she encountered feel special. Later she stopped by to check on my dad and make sure we didn’t need anything else. She showed us such compassion that we all were a bit more relaxed. I hope Kathy will continue to work at the hospital for a long time, she is really wonderful. I know my family will never forget her and the way she made us feel. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
