    Rustler Rodeo competed in Casper

(Riverton, WY) – The Rustlers traveled to Capser this past weekend to compete in the Ropin’ and Riggin’ Days hosted by the Casper Thunderbirds Rodeo Team and for the second week in a row they came home with the Steer Wrestling Title.

The men’s team was led by Kaden Berger. His long round run in the steer wrestling was fast enough to split the round win with a 4.6 second run.  He followed that up with a 4.9 that was second fastest in the short round but put him all alone to win the average title for the weekend. Teammates Ryn Severe and Jett VanBeizen both made it back to the short round in the Tie Down Roping. Ryn split third and fourth in the long round with a 11.5 second run, but failed to get a time in the short round dropping him to seventh in the average. Jett made it back to the short round in tenth position after tying his long round calf in 13.6 seconds, and moved up to sixth in the average with a 23.6 second run that placed sixth in the round.

Lexi Johnson led the way for the Lady Rustlers. She split fifth and sixth in the long round of the Breakaway roping with a time 3.6, and ninth in the team roping with teammate Shelby Weltz after stopping the clock in 11.3 seconds. The duo received a no-time in the short round, placing them ninth overall in the average, but Lexi moved up to third in the average of the Breakaway Roping after roping her short round calf in 3.1 seconds, which was the second fastest time of the short round.

“I am proud of the way the team performed this past weekend,” said Coach Schrock. “It is great to watch the hard work pay off for them and to watch them be able to compete mentally. Kaden won the Steer Wrestling, Lexi made it back in two events and placed well in the Breakaway, and Jett made it back to yet another short round. I was really proud of Jett, he drew a calf in the short round that circled back on him, not allowing him to catch up for a good throw. He didn’t quit and ended up roping and tying him at the other end of the arena. His no quit attitude moved him up in the average and placed him in the round. We have this upcoming weekend off for Easter, so we will practice Monday through Wednesday this week, before taking a break for the long weekend. Next week we will practice Monday through Thursday before leaving for the final regional rodeo that will be hosted by the University of Wyoming.”
