RPD looking for suspect after he escaped custody while getting hospital treatment

The Riverton Police Department released a statement to County 10 Thursday afternoon regarding a person who escaped custody:

On September 26, 2018 at approximately 5:20 PM an Officer was trying to take a male into custody for public intoxication at the Riverton City Park.  The suspect resisted and a struggle ensued.  The Officer gave the suspect a knee strike to prevent him from trying to grab a knife that had fallen on the ground.  Once the suspect was taken into custody, he was transported to the hospital for treatment.  While at the hospital, the suspect was able to flee and has not been located at this time.  We are currently looking for Gerald Behan and anyone with information on his whereabouts are encouraged to contact the Riverton Police Department at 856-4891.  Thank you!

We are currently working to get a photo and more information about Behan. We’ll update as soon as we get more details.
