Last week we discussed the Splash Pad and the efforts of the Riverton Police Department, this week I would like to address Public Intoxication and alcohol related offenses as a whole. My philosophy is that City Park was phase 1 and now we are moving into the next phase. The Riverton Police Department arrested 24 Indivuals this weekend from Friday thru this morning, every individual arrested was for an alcohol related offense or were intoxicated. We did arrest 7 individuals for assualt and kidnapping charges, all related to the same incident and all were intoxicated.

The Riverton Police Department have started more procative patrol efforts in the neighborhoods and downtown areas in an effort to address our Public Intoxication issues. City Council just passed 2 City Ordinances that wil be critical in the Riverton Police Department doing their jobs and dealing with Public Intoxication, Open Container and indiviuals using mouthwash and hand sanitizer to become intoxciated.

I attended the Shoplifitng Public Meeting last Wednesday night and heard that middle school kids are stealing multiple bottles of Axe Body Spray and huffing. This concerns me greatly on many levels. We will be placing officers in stores during after school hours to address that issue. Please feel free to contact me as always with any questions or concerns.
