Riverton’s City Park proposed water feature

County 10 received additional information on the proposed water feature for City Park. We posted earlier this week that a community meeting is scheduled for Thursday.

Former Riverton Mayor Ron Warpness shared, the water feature was a prominent part of the Main Street reconstruction project 13 years ago and was not completed due to “funding problems” with the rebuild. This water feature was designated the “City’s Centennial Project” by the Lasting Legacy Committee in 2006.

The proposed water feature measures 90’x100’x15′ and would be positioned between the stoplight at Federal and the Skate Park. The featured photo is a mock-up of the proposal.

An engineer estimated $200,000 would be needed to complete the project but the community members spearheading the project “do not feel that it will cost us anywhere near that figure.” It is reported, some money has already been donated and contractors have shown interest in helping. Additional funds and approvals still need to be obtained to move forward with the project.

Additional information will be provided at the scheduled meeting on Thursday, August 22nd. This is also an opportunity to share your thoughts on the project.
