#RivertonBiz: Brown Sugar Coffee Roastery now serves dinner

#Rivertonbiz shares the stories of the local movers and shakers of our Fremont County economy.

What started as a quaint local coffee shop now expands to a five-course dinner, with craft cocktails. Brown Sugar Coffee Roastery satisfies not only that 2 o’clock caffeine fix but a nightcap to end a long day.

Located at 203 East Main Street, in a historic and authentic building, Brown Sugar offers a select menu catered to exquisite gourmet taste buds. Considering the team here at County 10 has the most exquisite gourmet taste buds, Teri and Chelsea headed out on a Friday night date to see what it was all about.

Sitting down to a dining room lined with circle-top arched windows and local art welcomed an inviting touch of fine dining. The natural lighting played a big part in the enjoyable atmosphere of the restaurant as the sunset hit the dining room right at the golden hour.

Brown Sugar’s imaginative cocktail menu centralizes on egg whites, lemon, and bits and pieces from its coffee and tea selection. The Lemon Meringue is a little taste of summer as the drink has soft tones of sour lemon. Made with Tito’s, pineapple liquors, raw sugar, and egg white, the Lemon Meringue has a cheery appeal.

The Chamomile Sour is a close imitation to a lime margarita as the freshly squeezed lime and salted rim keeps the Cazadores Reposado tequila tart and vibrant. Those looking for a kick, and not just from the alcohol, can order an Italiano, Irish Coffee, and Siciliano as they come with coffee.

The tapas (small plate) menu comes with a variety of appetizers like Moroccan Chicken, and Proscuitto & Burrata Pizza. The Seared Scallops are a delicate treat with a sweet buttery finish. Glazes with a balsamic drizzle and paired with shitake mushroom, the scallops envelop one of the finest palatable menu items.

The main course options come with a salad and a side of your choice. The Crispy Quail pairs well with a side of grilled asparagus. Any kind of meat or seafood cravings can be fulfilled by Brown Sugar’s Menu. Even serving items like elk, lamb, and walleye. Brown Sugar not only has a large menu but one with a substantial amount of variety.

Those looking for light options can glance over at the pasta sections which offers, Vegetable Linguini and Gnocchi with Brown Butter Sage. Near the end of the meal, pair it off with a brownie topped with raspberry sauce and a side of vanilla ice cream.

Too fancy for you? Never fear! The food is fancy but the restaurant still has that familiar, comforting feeling and the staff is as friendly as ever. The real question is…will the food or the staff put a smile on your face first? Just be prepared to smile!

The full menu can be found on the Brown Sugar Coffee Roastery Facebook and you can make a reservation on Brown Sugar’s Website.

Dinner is served Thursday – Sunday from 5 – 8 pm. Regular daytime hours are seven days a week from 7 am – 3 pm.
