(Riverton, WY) – The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) announced this week that a Riverton Middle School student won the statewide competition to name one of the world’s fastest supercomputers.
NCAR will virtually visit an RMS classroom on Monday, April 12th, to announce the winning supercomputer name and the student who submitted it.
The name is for the new system currently being installed at the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC) in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
It was selected out of more than 200 submissions from Wyoming K-12 students in a competition conducted in partnership with the Wyoming Department of Education and the Wyoming Governor’s Office.
County 10 is attending this virtual event and will share details immediately following the announcement.
