Riverton resident sentenced to serve a minimum of 12 years

30-year-old Sheldon Buckingham was sentenced by Judge Tyler last week after being convicted of 7 counts by a jury in March.

His sentence is for no less than 6 years but no more than 10 years for two counts of Aggravated Assault and Battery, according to the Fremont County Attorney’s Office. These sentences are to be served consecutively meaning a total of 12-20 years in prison.

The other 5 convictions have shorter sentences and will be served concurrently with the 12-20 years.

Following Buckingham’s time served, he will be on supervised probation for 7 years.

These 7 counts are for an incident on the evening of August 9th, 2019 where he entered a Riverton residence with an “AR-15 rifle,” and threatened his ex who was inside. The same evening, Buckingham fired 13 shots into a vehicle belonging to his ex. Click here to read our earlier post about the incident.
