Riverton Recreation Board “Volunteers of the Year” honored

(Riverton, Wyo.) – When the Volunteers of the Year for the District 25 Recreation Board were announced Tuesday night, overheard was the exclamation “Hot Dog.” That was in reference to the honor bestowed upon Blaine Stafford, who owns Phil’s Dog Shack downtown. Rec Board member Jody Ray presented the award to Stafford, who noted her long-time support of Riverton youth activities and her always positive attitude. “I’m happy to present this award because we are also friends,” Ray said.

A second Volunteer of the Year award was presented, but unable to attend was Travis Draper. “Travis is another champion of youth and has worked on behalf of the Riverton Youth Football League, baseball, officiating sports and many other contributions,” Ray said.

The school board’s second Rec Board member, Becky Lancaster, said the next meeting of the Recreation Board will be held in January at which time the board will hear grant requests from community organizations. The grants would then be awarded in the board’s February meeting, she said.
