The Riverton Raiders legion baseball “A” squad is headed to their state tournament this week in Torrington, as play begins on Wednesday.
The Raiders wrapped up the A-League West District Tournament in Lovell last weekend and qualified for the state touranment. They beat the Capser Drillers 11-1 and the Powell Pioneers 12-2 in bracket play, advancing to the third place game where they beat Green River 18-8. Cody defeated Lovell in the championship game.
Riverton opens state play Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. against the Cheyenne Hawks, who are the 2nd seed from the east. If Riverton wins, they play the winner of Torrington Vs. Cody at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. If they lose, they’ll play again Thursday at 1:00 p.m. against the Torrington and Cody loser.
Riverton’s “B” legion team went to Sheridan to play at the state tournament last week and went 0-2, falling to both Douglas and Gillette.
