(Casper, WY) – United States Attorney Bob Murray announced today that Dalco Whiteman, 54, of Riverton, was sentenced on two counts of aggravated sexual abuse and four counts of abusive sexual contact by Chief District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl on December 20, 2021, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Whiteman was sentenced to 71 years of imprisonment followed by 15 years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 and a special assessment of $600.

The jury found that Whiteman was responsible for sexually abusing multiple children on the Wind River Reservation over the course of 25 years.

Six victims, several of them unknown to each other, testified that Whiteman had sexually assaulted them, some of them on numerous occasions.

“Every little girl and young women deserve a home and community where she feels safe and secure. Not a place of fear and abuse. Stopping sexual predators like Dalco Whiteman is why our team of prosecutors work tirelessly with our law enforcement partners. We are grateful for the conviction of someone who has been targeting our most vulnerable population,” said United States Attorney Bob Murray.

“Whiteman essentially received a life sentence, and he can no longer harm another child on the reservation.”

“The lengthy sentence of Dalco Whiteman hopefully brings a sense of justice to his victims, who suffered from decades of abuse,” said FBI Denver Division Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider.

“The FBI in coordination with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, which was the primary investigative agency in this case, will continue to prioritize protecting child victims of sexual assault by holding accountable all those who perpetrate such crimes.”

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Kerry J. Jacobson prosecuted the case.
