    Riverton man and woman facing burglary charges after stealing gun and electronics

    A 39-year-old Riverton man and a 27-year-old Riverton woman are facing burglary charges after being accused of stealing many items from of a residence in 2018.

    On November 12th, 2018 Riverton Police officers responded to a house for a report of theft. The homeowner told RPD that she had returned to her house after work to discover many of her possessions missing, including a .22 rifle, cell phone, tablet, and two purses.

    The homeowner reviewed history on an exterior security camera and saw two people entering her house. She was able to identify both people in the video, as they were acquaintances.

    Court documents note that Riverton Police investigated windows and doors at the household for a sign of forced entry, as the entrances were all reported to have been locked. There was no sign of forced entry, and the homeowners reported that they had in their possession the only keys for the residence.

    After a nearly two-week long investigation, RPD issued arrest warrants for both Summer Duran and Nicholas Hendryx. They were taken into custody on November 26th after a traffic stop.

    In court documents, one of the suspects admitted to using a knife to, “pop open” a door to gain entry into the household. The suspect also admitted to trading the rifle for 3 grams of methamphetamine and a tablet for one gram of methamphetamine. RPD is investigating a possible third party that may have been involved in the sales.

    Hendryx is facing one count of aggravated burglary, punishable by up to 25 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $50,000. He’s also facing one count of conspiracy to commit burglary, punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000, and one count of accessory before the fact to burglary, punishable by 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000.

    Duran is facing one count of burglary, punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000. She’s also facing one count of conspiracy to commit burglary, and one count of accessory before the fact aggravated burglary. Accessory before the fact is punishable by up to 25 years of imprisonment.

    The defendants waived their preliminary hearings on January 31st, and the matter is transferred to District Court for arraignment at a later date.

    All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
