    Fremont County man accused of three counts of sexual abuse of a minor

    25-year-old Ian Sean Woodis of Riverton is being charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, both punishable by up to 50 years of imprisonment, and one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

    On February 14th, 2019 the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office dispatched a Deputy to SageWest Hospital in Riverton for the possible assault.

    According to court documents, an older relative of the victim told the victim’s parents they had witnessed Woodis sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl at their residence. Documents continue to describe that a different relative of the victim also told Sheriff’s they believed they had witnessed a sexual assault occurring at a different time.

    Sheriff’s Deputies made contact shortly after the claims with Woodis. According to court documents, Woodis told detectives about three instances when he had sexual contact with the 10-year-old victim. When asked about the act that older relatives may had seen, Woodis replied that it was, “not the first time” he had engaged in the activity.

    On April 23rd Woodis appeared in circuit court. The court found sufficient probable cause to transfer the matter to the District Court. Further proceedings and arraignment will take place at a later date.

    *All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
