    Riverton High School Speech & Debate team headed to State this weekend

    The Worlando Beach 2020 (Worland High School) Speech & Debate tournament last weekend found the Riverton High School Wolverine Speech & Debate team claiming another first place in the 3A division. The Wolverine’s season is winding down with continued success heading into the State competition this coming weekend.

    The RHS students representing the Rendezvous City on the awards stage were Savanah Whitehurst who took first in Impromptu Speaking and 4th in Humorous Interpretation.

    Joseph Thornton took first in Dramatic Interpretation, first in Program Oral Interpretation, and first in Poetic Interpretation. Joseph was also awarded an Amazon Kindle for the most individual points earned at the tournament.

    Kaia Tippets and Shannyn Kreitzer claimed third place in Duo Interpretation. Shannyn also made it to semifinals in Humorous Interpretation and in Program Oral Interpretation.

    Carolyn Thornton moved to semifinals in Dramatic Interpretation, took 2nd place in Poetic Interpretation and with her partner Isaac Almejo-Ponce claimed 1st in Duo Interpretation. Isaac also placed 6th in Oratory Interpretation.

    JJ Grover and partner Elizabeth Pierson earned second place in Cross Examination Debate. Elizabeth also claimed first place in Congressional Debate.
