    Riverton High School football will again have cannon touchdown celebration this season

    Riverton High School football touchdowns will be celebrated with a cannon blast again this season.

    The Riverton City Council unanimously approved a fireworks permit application for RHS Tuesday night at Riverton City Hall.

    City Clerk and Human Resources Director Kristin Watson explained the cannon will shoot what are basically “blanks” during every touchdown and after victories, creating a loud boom.

    The time frame of these will be between 7:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and only for football games.

    There are four scheduled home football games during the regular season, and a potential of two more playoff games.

    Watson said the permit application had received the support of the Riverton Fire Department.

    Riverton’s home football schedule has home games on: September 7th, September 14th, September 28th, and October 19th. Potential playoff games would be the final two weekend’s in October.

    The Wolverines host Evanston, Star Valley, Lander, and Douglas this season. They have trips to Cody, Worland, Torrington and Rawlins.
