Riverton Gordmans reopens tomorrow to begin “wind down” of operations

The Riverton Gordmans will reopen tomorrow, May 28th, as part of the company’s phased store reopening plan across the country, according to their website. The store was temporarily closed on March 27th due to COVID-19 concerns, just a short 10 days after its grand opening on the 17th.

A recent announcement from Stage Stores (Gordmans umbrella company) stated they were significantly impacted by COVID-19, and “despite all of our efforts, we have been unable to obtain necessary financing to continue operating as an independent business,” according to a letter from Stage Stores President and CEO Michael Glazer.

Stage Stores filed voluntary petitions under Chapter 11, and plan to “simultaneously run a sale process for their business or any of our assets and initiate an orderly wind-down of our operations,” Glazer continued. “If we receive a viable bid for the business, we will terminate our winddown of operations at certain locations. This is incredibly difficult news to deliver and it is a decision that we came to after exhausting all other options.”

County 10 made several attempts to contact Gordmans and Stage Stores representatives to no avail. While the publicly shared information does not provide any kind of timeline other than the Riverton store reopening on the 28th, we will continue to keep you as up-to-date as possible.
