Riverton football to participate in “zero week” game this Friday at Powell

The weather and calendar both are indicating that it’s just about football time in Fremont County.

Prep teams will compete in “zero week” games this weekend. Zero week contests count for 4A schools, but all other schools use zero week as a pre-season scrimmage that will not count to their regular season record.

At this point, Riverton football is the only county team with a zero week game listed by both the Wyoming High School Activities Association and WyoPreps.

Riverton travels to Powell High School Friday, August 24th for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

RHS begins their regular season Friday, August 31st at Cody. Their first home game is September 7th against Evanston.

Lander football kicks off August 31st at Green River.

In class 1A, Shoshoni opens by hosting Big Piney, Wind River is at Lovell, and Wyoming Indian has an “open date.” Shoshoni and Wind River’s games are both on August 31st.

And, in 1A 6-man football, Dubois opens at Midwest and St. Stephnens goes to Hanna-Elk Mountain in week one.
