Riverton City Council to consider approving COPS Hiring Program application during Tuesday meeting

The Riverton City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.

The agenda includes a proclamation for National Treatment Court Month and the fiscal year 2022-2023 audit report.

The council will also consider confirming the appointment of Bryce House to fill a vacancy on the Wind River Visitors Council.

A public hearing will be held before the council considers a retail liquor license transfer of ownership from SJ Stanbury Inc., doing business as Bomber’s Sports Bar, to No Te Rajes LLC, doing business as Talk of the Town, at 502 E. Main St.

The council will discuss insect abatement, then consider a resolution authorizing the police department to apply to the COPS Hiring Program.

The federal program “provides funding to law enforcement agencies to hire and/or rehire additional career law enforcement officers in an effort to increase their community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts,” city staff said.

    The council will also consider:
-approving the selection of Ardurra Group Inc. as the engineering consultant for Central Wyoming Regional Airport
-awarding a $344,000 bid to Jerry Bornhoft Construction for a pavement preservation project
-approving an amendment to a lease agreement with Rise and Shine Airport Café
    -approving economic development funding agreements

City staff will present the fiscal year 2024 third-quarter fiscal health report at the end of the meeting, and an executive session will be held if needed.

The council meeting will be preceded by a 6:45 p.m. Finance Committee meeting in the same location.

Both meetings are open the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
