Riverton City Council to consider 2024-2025 budget, federal grant application during special meeting Tuesday

The Riverton City Council will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.

The agenda for the meeting includes two items.

First, there will be a public hearing before the council considers adopting the city’s fiscal year 2024-2025 budget.

“The overall budget for consideration is $36,991,903 of which $18,745,158 is dedicated towards capital improvements,” staff wrote in a memo to the council. “The overall proposal covers operations, capital improvements, debt service, and other obligations across the general, water, wastewater, sanitation, airport, and other funds.”

The second item on the agenda is a resolution supporting an application for a $300,000 Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program planning grant to help “improve and promote safety along all the recreational pathways network in and directly around the City of Riverton.”

The grant program requires a 20 percent local match that staff said they would request from the state, which appropriated $75 million for 2025-2026 to match federal grants related to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Tuesday’s meeting is open the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
