Riverton City Administrator Tony Tolstedt joined the County 10 Podcast this week and told us he can feel the positive momentum continuing across the community.
Tolstedt has worked as the Riverton City Administrator since November 2017. He grew up in Sheridan, and previously worked as a City Administrator in a couple of Nebraska towns as well as Douglas, WY.
Tony told us that his position hasn’t changed much after Riverton’s new mayor, Rich Gard, took over this year replacing Lars Baker. “There’s certainly a getting to know you period, but it’s just a matter of working with someone new,” he said.

Tolstedt credited many City of Riverton department heads, City Council members, and citizens for organizing community driven positive events in 2019.
He said that efforts like the Riverton Splash Pad Committee, Alive @ 5 concerts, Riverton Farmer’s Markets, and the Kickin’ Trash group have provided steps to bettering Riverton.
Tolstedt said the Kickin’ Trash group was spearheaded by City Councilwoman Rebecca Schatza. The group still organizes almost weekly and picks up garbage in a different spot of Riverton. “It’s actually a lot of fun,” he said. “When you get out there with all the personalities and the joking, it’s a great amount of energy and it’s all positive. It’s not laberous, it ends up being fun.”
Tony encouraged community residents to get involved with doing something to better Riverton. He welcomed phone calls and e-mails with citizen concerns, questions, and tips anytime.
