Riverton Chamber of Commerce receives go-ahead for open container permit; Event will be in conjunction with coffee festival

Riverton City Council members voted to approve an open container permit for the Riverton Chamber of Commerce Tuesday night.

The permit is good for Friday, September 7th on South Broadway, just outside of Bar 10, between Main Street and the bar itself.

An event is scheduled between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. that night, in conjunction with the first ever Roasters Rendezvous Coffee Festival.

This event will serve as the “kickoff party” for the two-day event. The Riverton Farmers Market will move to South Broadway during this time, so patrons will have the opportunity to shop for local produce. Bar 10 will also be serving coffee-themed cocktails. Live music is also expected at the party.

City Councilman Lance Goede asked a couple of logistic questions about the event to Riverton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jim Davis, who was in attendance at Tuesday night’s meeting in Riverton City Hall.

Davis told the council members and mayor, “Hopefully it will be the first annual Roasters Rendezvous. As of this morning (Tuesday), we have probably 11 coffee roasters from across the state and maybe even one from Idaho that’s going to come in for this.”

Jim was asked about any accessibility issues with traffic during a Friday evening, he said the Chamber had asked WYDOT employees about it, and they felt comfortable with it. Davis said the plan is to detour traffic around the event on either 3rd or 5th street.

City Councilman Sean Peterson asked Riverton Chief of Police Eric Murphy if RPD had any concerns about the event. Murphy replied, “We feel like this is a really good plan, Bar 10 runs a really good business, along with the Chamber, we feel like there will be no issues.”

The 2018 Roasters Rendezvous features workshops Saturday, September 8th from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Central Wyoming College, for a full schedule of events click here.
