The 2020 State High School Golf Championships were held over the weekend and our Fremont County athletes competed at a course in Evanston.
Individually, Riverton High School’s Parker Paxton won the boy’s championship. He shot a two-day combined score of 138 to be the best in the field.
Lander Valley High School’s Jaren Calkins had won back-to-back individual championships. He finished second, shooting a two-day 141.
Riveron’s Dawson Valerio put together a 12th place performance, shooting 165 and Wolverine Brett Jones finished 22nd.
The Worland boys took the overall team championship, Cody finished second, and Riverton took third. Lander’s squad took 8th out of the 13 participating teams.
Lovell’s Erika Cook had the best two round’s for the 3A girls, shooting a 156. Riverton’s Sierra Brubaker shot a 167, good for 4th place. Lander’s Maddie Korell shot a 186 for 7th place, and her teammate Mackenzie Janish finished 11th, shooting a 198.
The Lovell ladies won the 3A championship, Wheatland finished second, and Green River came in third. Riverton and Lander tied for 5th place overall.
