    RHS student receives WHSAA Good Sportsmanship Award

    (Riverton, WY) – Riverton High School student Rugar Stowell was recognized Tuesday night during the Fremont County School District #25 Board of Trustees meeting.

    Rugar received a Wyoming High School Activities Association Good Sportsmanship Award for his actions during a soccer game.

    The award recommendation came from the center referee, according to Superintedent Dr. Joanne Andre-Flanagan.

    She read the center referee’s recommendation, which is as follows:

    “At all times you were playing hard, you were having fun and smiling, always respectful to the opponents and to the teammates, and to the officials. And said, ‘I’m fortunate to have been the center referee for the game.'”

    Joanne noted how proud they are of Rugar.

    “Athletics provide a lot of avenues for kids to learn a lot of things, she shared. “And so I think that this is a reflection of things that you learn outside of the classroom. So we are grateful for you representing our community well, representing our school well. We’re proud of you.”
