(Riverton, WY) – Riverton High School has become fairly accustom to success on the golf course.
Recently, a lot of that success has come from a youngster, now sophomore Parker Paxton. As a freshman, Parker won the 3A individual state golf championship besting former state champion Jaren Calkins of Lander by 3 strokes.
Paxton and the Wolverines just won the team championship at the Rock Springs Invitational, beating Jackson by 10 strokes, and beating several 4A schools by a lot more than that last weekend. Parker individually, was 18 strokes ahead of the second place finisher.
RHS will host an invitational at the Riverton Country Club this Friday. Teams attending the event include, Lander, Evanston, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Star Valley, Worland, Rock Springs, Laramie and Pinedale.
We caught up with Paxton to discuss his success and the run for another state championship.
